Dieses Buch erklärt die Phänomene auf der Sonne und zeigt, wie man diese mit modernen Sonnenteleskopen beobachten und fotografieren kann. Dazu zählt neben dem herkömmlichen »Weißlicht« die Beobachtung in speziellen Spektrallinien der Elemente Wasserstoff und Kalzium.

Besonderer Wert wird auf die Sicherheit der Sonnenbeobachtung gelegt. Ausführlich werden verschiedene Filtermethoden erklärt und ihre Eignung für die verschiedenen Beobachtungszwecke herausgestellt.
